Find Your Tribe LLC
Effective: November 5, 2025
Contact: ann@wefindyourtribe.com
1. Scope
Summary: This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data when you use our app. It applies globally and is designed to comply with major privacy laws (GDPR, CPRA, LGPD, etc.).
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect about you, why we collect it, how we use it, and how we share it, when you use our websites, mobile applications, and other online products and services (collectively, the "Services") or when you otherwise interact with us. It also describes your rights and choices regarding your information and how you can contact us about our privacy practices.
We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with applicable global data protection laws, including the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the CPRA, Brazil's Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD), Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and other applicable laws. This Policy is designed to be transparent and accessible, using plain language.
By using the Services, you agree to the collection, use, and sharing of your personal data as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services. We encourage you to read this Policy fully, but here are the key points:
- We do not offer our Services to anyone under 21 years old, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
- We collect various types of information, including what you provide when you create an account or profile, content you post, messages, and data about your usage or device. Some of it is necessary to provide the service (like your email), and some is optional.
- We use your data to provide and improve the Services, ensure safety, communicate with you, show relevant content, and comply with law. We rely on different legal bases for these uses (contract necessity, legitimate interests, your consent, etc., depending on context).
- We share data with other users (to the extent you expect, like profile info or content in meetups), with service providers who help us run the platform (under strict confidentiality), with advertisers/analytics partners (in limited ways, with opt-outs where required), and in cases of legal necessity or business transfers.
- We transfer data to the United States and possibly other countries, using safeguards like Standard Contractual Clauses for EU data.
- We retain data only as long as needed and then delete or anonymize it.
- You have rights over your data. Depending on your jurisdiction, these may include accessing your data, correcting it, deleting it, getting a copy, or objecting to certain uses. We provide tools or contact methods to exercise these rights.
- We do not sell personal information. If we ever engage in sharing data for targeted advertising, we will provide a "Do Not Sell or Share" opt-out (including recognition of Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals).
- We use security measures to protect data, but no system is 100% secure.
- We provide additional information for users in certain regions (like EU content moderation transparency under the DSA, and California privacy disclosures).
- If you have questions or requests regarding your data, you can contact us at ann@wefindyourtribe.com.
2. Data We Collect
Summary: We collect the information you provide (like account details, profile content, messages) and data automatically collected when you use the app (like device info, usage stats, and approximate location if allowed). We may also collect optional data for verification if you choose to provide it.
The types of information we collect depend on how you use our Services. Broadly, it falls into a few categories:
2.1 Information You Provide to Us:
Account Registration Data:
When you create an account, we ask for basic information such as your name, email address, date of birth (to confirm age 21+), and a password. We will store a hashed version of your password (not the plaintext). We might also request a username. This is required to set up and maintain your account.
Profile Information:
You may choose to add details to your profile, including a profile photo, bio or description, your interests, social media links, and other details. This information is optional but helps you find and communicate with your "tribe" (people with shared interests). Whatever you include in your profile may be visible to other users.
User-Generated Content (UGC):
Our app revolves around content you and others provide. This includes:
- Meetups/Events: If you create an event or "meetup" listing, we collect the details you provide about it (such as the event name, description, location, time, and any photos or tags). If you RSVP or join an event, that fact (your attendance) is also recorded.
- Posts and Comments: If the platform allows forum posts, group chats, or event comments, we collect what you post.
- Photos and Media: If you upload photos or other media (for example, to your profile or event pages), we collect those files and any associated metadata.
- Reports and Safety Interactions: If you report a piece of content or another user for violating our rules, we collect that report and any information you provide about it. Similarly, if you respond to surveys or provide feedback, we collect that.
Messages:
The app may allow direct messaging or group chats between users. We will process the content of messages and attachments you send to deliver them to the intended recipients. Important: Private messages are generally only visible to the senders and recipients, but we may algorithmically scan them for abuse or security issues (like malware or to filter spam), and if a message is reported by a participant, we may review it as described in the Safety section. We treat personal communications with care.
Optional Verification Data:
We might offer features for account verification (for example, photo verification or ID verification to increase trust). If you choose to undergo such verification, we will collect the information you provide for that (such as a selfie, or an ID document scan). We will use it only for verification and security purposes. Providing this is completely optional unless we specifically require it due to suspicious activity.
Customer Support and Contact:
If you reach out to us (via email, support chat, or otherwise), we collect the information you give us (like your name, contact, and the content of your query) and any follow-up information we request to resolve your issue.
2.2 Information We Collect Automatically:
When you use the Services, certain data gets collected automatically by virtue of your use:
Usage Data:
We collect information about your activity on the platform: for example, the pages or screens you view, the dates/times of your visits, features you use (e.g. joining an event, sending a message), interactions with content or ads, and the routes by which you navigate through the app.
Device and Network Information:
We collect data from the device and software you use to access our Services:
- IP Address: Logged when you connect (used for things like approximate location derivation, fraud prevention, and account security).
- Device IDs: Such as your device's unique ID (e.g., advertising ID, or platform-specific identifier like IDFA on iOS if allowed) and device type (e.g., iPhone 12, Samsung Galaxy etc.).
- Device OS and Version: For example, Android 13 or iOS 17, and device language settings.
- App Version: The specific build/version of our app that you're using.
- Network Info: Such as the mobile network you use (if any), or whether you're on Wi-Fi.
- Error/Crash Logs: If the app crashes or an error occurs, we may collect a crash report or log to diagnose the problem.
Cookies & Similar Tech:
If we have a web interface or for certain in-app features, we may use cookies, pixels, or local storage to remember preferences or analyze usage. (For example, our website might use Google Analytics cookies to understand how people get to the site). On mobile, similar techniques may include SDK-based tracking of events.
Location Data:
We do not collect precise GPS location by default; however, we may ask for or infer approximate location in these ways:
- IP-based Location: IP addresses can indicate general region (city or country level). We use this for things like showing you relevant local content or for safety (e.g., detecting if an account is logging in from unusual locations).
- Device Location (Optional): If you explicitly grant us permission on your mobile device, we may collect precise location data from your device's GPS or location services. This could be used to show meetups near you or enhance recommendations. This is entirely opt-in; you can use the core app without giving precise location permission (you might just have to manually input a location for certain features).
- Event Check-In (Optional): In the future, we might allow you to "check in" at events – which would collect location at that moment to share with fellow event-goers. That would also be optional.
Audio/Camera (Optional):
If the app implements features like scanning a QR code at an event, taking photos within the app, or audio chat, we would request access to your camera or microphone. Those inputs (photos, audio) are only collected when you use the feature (e.g., when you take and upload a photo, or record audio in a voice chat or a support call).
2.3 Information from Third Parties:
At this time, most data we collect comes directly from you or your device's interaction with our Services. If you choose to link or login via a third-party account (for example, "Sign in with Facebook" or "Sign in with Apple"), we may receive certain information from that third party such as your name and email (according to their disclosure at the time you connect). We use it to streamline account creation. We might also receive marketing-related data (like if you clicked an ad on Facebook that led you to install our app, we might get a notification from Facebook Ads that a user in general installed, for ad attribution – this would typically not include personal info, just aggregate or device-level data).
We do not purchase demographic information about you from data brokers at this time. In the future, if we do enrich profiles with external data, we will update this policy accordingly.
3. How We Use Data
Summary: We use your data to provide and personalize the service – for example, to let you create events and find others, to ensure safety (like filtering bad content or preventing spam), to communicate with you about updates, and to improve the app. We also use data where necessary for legal compliance. We rely on different legal bases under GDPR: mainly to perform our contract with you (provide the service), our legitimate interests (e.g., safety, improvements, fraud prevention), consent for certain things (like sending marketing, or using precise location or certain cookies), and compliance with legal obligations.
We use the personal data we collect for the following purposes:
- Provide the Services:
First and foremost, we use data to create and manage user accounts, authenticate users (making sure you are who you say by your login), and provide core functionalities of the app. For example: allowing you to build a profile and find/connect with other users; enabling you to create, discover, and join meetups or groups, and showing you relevant meetups based on your location or interests; facilitating communications: delivering your messages to intended recipients; updating you on event details or changes; allowing friend or connection requests if that exists; remembering your preferences and settings (like notification settings, language, etc.).
- Maintain & Secure the Platform:
We use data to keep our Services safe, secure, and reliable. This includes: monitoring and preventing fraud or other illegal activities; detecting violations of our Terms of Service or community guidelines; investigating suspicious behavior or security incidents and taking appropriate action (like account suspension or contacting law enforcement if someone is threatening harm); ensuring the integrity of the platform by implementing anti-spam measures and abuse detection.
- Moderation and Community Safety:
As described further in Section 4, we process data (including user reports and content like messages or posts) to enforce our zero-tolerance policy against objectionable content. Automated systems may scan images and text for red flags (e.g., nudity detection algorithms to block explicit images). Human moderators may review content that's reported. This use of data is essential to maintain a safe community and is aligned with obligations such as App Store guideline 1.2 and the EU Digital Services Act's expectations for content moderation transparency.
- Improve and Develop the Services:
We want to make our product better. We use usage data, feedback, and other analytics to: analyze how users interact with the app; debug and troubleshoot technical issues; research and develop new features; sometimes, we might use anonymized or aggregated data (which no longer identifies individuals) for broader analytical purposes or even to share insights about usage publicly or with partners.
- Personalize the Experience:
We use data to personalize content shown to you: recommend meetups or groups that might interest you; show you profiles of other users you might want to connect with; customize push notifications or in-app messages. Note: We do not use any automated decision-making with legal effects (like no AI will make a binding decision about you without human oversight, except routine filtering like spam detection).
- Communicate with You:
We use contact information (like your email) to send you: service and transactional messages; updates and new features; promotional communications; announcements related to Terms or Privacy.
- Advertising and Sponsorship (Future):
Currently, we do not show third-party ads in the app. If we decide to in future, we might use certain data (like general location or interests) to show relevant ads. We would update this policy and honor any required opt-ins.
- Compliance with Legal Obligations:
We process data as needed to comply with the law or regulatory requirements, such as: responding to valid legal requests; satisfying data protection laws; taking action against illegal content; maintaining financial records if any payments are involved.
- Protect Rights and Interests:
We may use data to protect our own legal rights and interests, and those of users or others. This includes addressing user or third-party claims or disputes. It also includes enforcing our Terms of Service.
Legal Bases for Processing (for those in the European Economic Area, UK, and similar jurisdictions):
Where GDPR or similar laws apply, we need to have a legal basis for processing personal data. Depending on the context, our legal bases include:
- Contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): Much of our processing is to provide the Services you requested under our Terms of Service – for example, using your email to create your account or sending your messages to others.
- Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): We rely on legitimate interests for purposes like improving our product, ensuring security, and removing abusive content.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): In some cases, we ask for your consent. For instance, we will ask consent to use precise location (GPS) for finding nearby events, or to send you certain marketing communications. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal Obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR): When we are required by law to process data, such as retaining data for tax law or responding to law enforcement requests.
4. Safety & Moderation
Summary: We have systems to keep the community safe. This includes automated filters (like AI that detects nudity or explicit content) and human moderation. If content or messages are reported, authorized staff may review them to decide if they violate our rules or the law. We have a zero-tolerance approach especially to things like child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or credible threats of harm – such content will be removed and reported to authorities as required. These practices align with app store rules (e.g. Apple's requirements) and new laws like the EU Digital Services Act which demand robust content moderation and transparency.
Automated Tools:
We use automated tools to assist in content moderation. For example: image filters to detect and block sexually explicit images; text filtering; spam detection.
Human Review:
When a piece of content or a user is reported by you or others, our trained safety staff may access the relevant content. Moderators may intervene proactively if our tools surface something extremely concerning. We take these reviews seriously: staff are limited to authorized personnel trained for handling potentially disturbing content and respecting user privacy. They are bound by confidentiality.
Actions We Take:
If content or behavior violates our Terms or community guidelines: we may remove or hide content; we may issue warnings to users; for serious or repeated violations, we may suspend or terminate accounts; we may also limit certain features.
Notice and Appeal:
When we remove content or ban a user, we strive to inform the affected user of the reason. Users generally have an opportunity to appeal moderation decisions. We have a dedicated channel (moderation@wefindyourtribe.com) for such appeals. Each appeal is reviewed by a different moderator or a senior member of the team.
Zero-Tolerance Content:
Some content is absolutely forbidden and will result in immediate removal and likely account termination, with possible reporting to law enforcement: Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM); Imminent Threats and Self-Harm; Non-Consensual Intimate Imagery (NCII); Illegal content in general.
5. Sharing of Data
Summary: We do not sell your personal information. We only share it in specific circumstances: with other users (to the extent you expect, like showing your profile to attendees of the same event), with our service providers (companies that help us run the app, under strict contracts), with third-party platforms when you agree (like if you link accounts), for legal reasons or safety (like responding to lawful requests or emergencies), and if the company's ownership changes (business transfer). We also may share de-identified or aggregated data that doesn't identify you.
5.1 Sharing with Other Users:
Certain information is visible to other users by default as part of the service: profile information; event participation; messages; social features; content you post; rating/review systems.
5.2 Service Providers (Processors):
We use third-party companies to help us operate and improve the Services. These service providers only get the information necessary for their function, and they are contractually obligated to keep it confidential. Key service provider categories: hosting & infrastructure; database & data storage; analytics tools; communication tools; customer support software; moderation and safety tools; verification services; advertising partners; payment processors.
5.3 Affiliates:
If Find Your Tribe LLC has any parent company, subsidiaries, joint venture, or other companies under common control ("affiliates"), we might share your information within that corporate family as needed to operate the Services.
5.4 Business Transfers:
If we undergo a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, or in the unlikely event of bankruptcy or reorganization, your personal data could be transferred to the successor or purchaser.
5.5 Legal and Safety Disclosures:
We may disclose information about you when required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we have a good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to: comply with legal obligations or respond to lawful requests; protect and defend our rights, property, or safety; address emergencies.
5.6 With Your Consent:
Aside from the scenarios above, if we ever want to share your personal information for other purposes, we will ask for your consent.
5.7 Aggregated or De-Identified Data:
We may also share information that has been aggregated or anonymized in such a way that it cannot reasonably be used to identify you.
6. International Data Transfers
Summary: We are based in the USA, so your data will likely be processed and stored there. If you live in another country (like in Europe or elsewhere), that means your data is being transferred across borders. We use legal mechanisms (like Standard Contractual Clauses) to ensure these transfers are compliant and your data gets a similar level of protection as in your home country. We also apply safeguards and only work with reputable providers. By using the app, you understand and consent that your data may be transferred to and stored in the United States and possibly other countries.
Find Your Tribe LLC is located in the United States. Many of our systems and service providers are also in the U.S. or other countries outside of your own. This means that your personal data may be transferred to, stored, or processed in a country different from where it was collected or where you reside.
6.1 For Users Outside the USA:
Whenever we transfer personal data out of jurisdictions like the EEA/UK, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect it: Standard Contractual Clauses; Supplementary Measures; Data Privacy Framework.
6.2 Other Regions:
For users in Brazil, Canada, Singapore, Australia, and other regions, we ensure similar protections via contracts and policies described.
6.3 Risks and User Consent:
By using our Services or providing us your information, you consent to the transfer of your personal data to the United States and other jurisdictions as described. We will handle that information in accordance with this Policy regardless of where it's processed.
7. Data Retention
Summary: We keep your personal data only as long as we need it for the purposes described, or as required by law. If you delete your account or when we no longer need the data, we will delete or anonymize it. However, some data we may retain for a while (like logs or records) to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes. We provide examples of typical retention periods. When we no longer need data, we make sure it's safely erased or irreversibly de-identified.
We do not want to keep your personal information indefinitely. We retain data for only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy and to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Our retention practices include: Account Data; Profile & UGC Content; Messages; Logs & Device Data; Transaction Records; Legal Holds; Moderation Records; Backups.
Illustrative Retention Targets:
- Basic account info – kept for the life of the account. Deleted upon account deletion (except logs as noted).
- Event and meetup history – active during account, and we might keep an archive of past event attendance for maybe 1 year for product research, then either aggregate or delete.
- Content moderation records (reports, violations) – up to 24 months typically, unless ongoing issue.
- Payment and subscription records – at least 5 years (legal compliance).
- Communications with support – 2 years after resolution, in case of follow-ups.
Anonymization:
When we no longer need personal data, we may choose to anonymize it rather than outright delete, if it's useful for statistics. Anonymization is irreversible – meaning the data can't be tied back to you.
8. Your Rights & Choices
Summary: You have control over your personal data. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access a copy of your data, correct it if it's wrong, delete it, or export it (data portability). You can also object to or ask us to restrict certain processing. If we are using your data based on consent, you can withdraw that consent (for example, opt-out of marketing emails or turn off location sharing). We provide tools in-app for many of these, and you can always email us at ann@wefindyourtribe.com to exercise your rights. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
8.1 Privacy Settings & In-App Controls:
In the app or on your account settings page, you may find controls such as: profile visibility; notifications; location sharing; linked accounts; blocking users; do not sell or share (California & others).

8.3 Deletion:
You can delete your account via the app settings or by contacting us at any time. You can also request partial deletion of specific information.

Where we rely on your consent to process data, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time.
8.7 Non-Discrimination (California):
If you exercise any of these rights (access, deletion, etc.), we will not discriminate against you.
8.8 How to Exercise Your Rights:
Self-Service: The quickest way to do many things is via our app settings or website account settings. Contact Us: For anything not covered by in-app tools, you can email us at privacy@wefindyourtribe.com or ann@wefindyourtribe.com.

9. California Privacy Notice (CPRA/CCPA)
Summary: We outline what categories of personal info we collect (under CCPA definitions), the purposes, and the categories of sources and third parties. Importantly, we confirm we do not sell personal info and do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising as of now. If that ever changes, we'll provide opt-outs, honor GPC signals, and ensure no account is needed to opt out. We also commit to no retaliation for opting out.
Categories of Personal Information Collected:
In the preceding 12 months, we may have collected the following categories of personal information about our users (as defined by the CCPA): Identifiers; Personal Records; Protected Classifications; Commercial Information; Internet or Other Electronic Network Activity; Geolocation Data; Sensory Information; Professional or Employment Info; Education Information; Inferences; Sensitive Personal Information.
Disclosure of Personal Information:
We may disclose these categories of personal information to third parties for business purposes.

We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. Also, at this time, we do not "share" personal information as defined under CPRA.
Right to Opt-Out of Sale/Sharing:
If we ever start selling or sharing personal info, we will implement a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link and respect any browser-based Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal.
10. Children
Summary: Our platform is strictly for adults 21 and older. We do not allow minors and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 21. If we discover someone under 21 is using our service, we will delete their account and data promptly. Parents or guardians can contact us if they believe a minor has given us info, and we'll remove it.
No Users Under 21:
Our Services are intended only for adults age 21 or older. We do not market to, or want, anyone under the age of 21 to use the app.
COPPA Compliance:
Although COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) in the U.S. sets 13 as the age under which parental consent is needed to collect data, we go further by not allowing under-21. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13.
If a Minor Uses the Service:
If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal data from someone under 21, we will delete the account and associated information as quickly as possible.
Parental Rights:
If you are a parent or guardian and you become aware that your child under 21 has created an account or otherwise provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at ann@wefindyourtribe.com.
11. Security
Summary: We use various security measures (technical, administrative, and physical) to protect your data. This includes encryption of data in transit (HTTPS), perhaps encryption at rest for sensitive fields, regular security audits, access controls so only authorized staff can access personal data, etc. However, no service is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You also play a role by using a strong password and keeping it secret. If we ever have a data breach affecting you, we will notify you and regulators as required by law.
We implement reasonable and appropriate security measures designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. Our approach includes: Encryption; Access Controls; Infrastructure Security; Organizational Measures; Payments; User Responsibilities.
No Absolute Security:
While we strive to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. In the unlikely event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will promptly notify you via email or in-app notification about what happened and what data might be involved.
12. EU Digital Services Act – Transparency & User Redress
Summary: Under the EU's Digital Services Act (DSA), we have responsibilities to be transparent about content moderation and provide you avenues to appeal decisions. EU users can report content via the app or by email (dsa@wefindyourtribe.com). If we remove content you posted (or suspend you) because it's illegal or against our terms, we'll give you a notice with the reasons. You can then appeal our decision. We'll review appeals promptly.
For users in the European Union, the Digital Services Act (DSA) provides certain rights and imposes content moderation obligations on us as an online platform. Key provisions: Notice and Action Mechanism; Statement of Reasons; Appeals / Complaint Mechanism; Out-of-Court Dispute Resolution; Traceability of Traders; Transparency Reports; Single Point of Contact & Legal Representative.
13. Third-Party Links & SDKs
Summary: Our app or website may contain links to third-party websites or integrate third-party software (SDKs) for features like social logins, analytics, or payments. If you click those links or use those features, you may be giving data to those third parties. They have their own privacy practices, which we do not control. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.
Our Services may contain links to websites or services operated by third parties, or incorporate third-party Software Development Kits (SDKs) and APIs as part of our app's functionality. Categories include: External Links; Social Login or Sharing; Third-Party SDKs in App; Third-Party Content.
14. Changes to this Privacy Policy
Summary: We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our services or legal obligations change. If we make material changes (like expanding what data we collect or how we use it), we will notify you in advance via email or an in-app notice, and give you a chance to review the changes. The new policy will have an "Effective Date" at the top. If you continue using the app after that date, it means you accept the new terms. If not, you can stop using the service or delete your account.
We may revise or update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we do, we will post the updated Policy on our website and/or in the app settings, with a new "Effective Date" at the top.
15. Contact Us
Summary: If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding your privacy or this Policy, you can contact us by email. We also provide our mailing address. If you need to reach our Data Protection Officer or EU Representative (if applicable), you can use the same contact and we'll route it appropriately. We're here to help.
